Beer Regatta 2020 was Regatta Remotely – check out what we got up to……
Well, 2020 will go down in history for many reasons, and for us in Beer, it will be the year Regatta went online. We asked people across Beer, across Devon, across the UK and even across the world to have Beer Regatta in their own back yard. We asked people to make Regatta 2020 memorable for all the right reasons and we put together a programme for all to join in with, from the comfort of your their garden, or their local park – anywhere of their choosing this year.
We put together a full programme for the week, see to the right, and people shared their photographs of themselves beating other members of their family to win the ‘Egg and Spoon Race’, or having a socially distanced Regatta Cream Tea with their friend for example. Technology was able to keep us in touch with each other throughout the difficult time and our Facebook and Instagram pages were filled with comments by people who love Beer Regatta. 2020 was the year we also joined Twitter too! Of course, we missed the regular crowd-pleasing events and the bustle in the village, but much of the Regatta spirit is about having fun, ‘having a go’, laughing together and making memories.
We made the most of 2020 – as always with Beer Regatta, but perhaps even more so this year, and it wasn’t the same without YOU!
Keep safe and well, please keep to the current Government Guidelines for Coronavirus and we look forward to seeing you back in Beer again for Regatta 2021!
2021 - Regatta week starts on Saturday 14th August 2021
