Beer Regatta 2020 – Regatta Remotely……

It is with much regret that the Regatta Committee have had to take the decision to cancel Beer Regatta, as we usually know it, for 2020. We know that Regatta Week is much loved, and we realise that for many of you this will be disappointing news, but our priority, as always, is to keep our village, our volunteers, and our visitors safe. However, in these strange and difficult times, we would like you to get involved in taking Beer Regatta 2020 global! We already know that the village appeal is far reaching, so this year we’d like you to join in as we bring Regatta to you – whether you live in New Cut, Newcastle, New York or New Zealand!
We are planning to have the Quiz and the Regatta Talk online, but we are also hoping that you will be part of our virtual Regatta by taking on the role of Official Regatta Photographer from the comfort of your own home. We’d like to see pictures of some of your favourite events, for example, ‘Family Robbie’s Races’, children in their Fancy Dress, cream teas, painted pebbles, face painting……. We will look to publish a ‘programme of events’ so each day we have a theme for the photographs we hope you will share with us on Facebook and Instagram. Are there any particular events you would like to see which might work from home?
We will of course provide further details nearer the time, and we will give you plenty of notice so you can plan your week, create your costumes, organise your own events and so on. It will be ‘Just for Fun’ this year – so no prizes or cups – but ‘Regatta Remotely’ is a chance for everyone to join in, wherever you live!
Let’s make Beer Regatta 2020 memorable! Long Live Beer Regatta!
