Beer Regatta

Breaking news...........a smaller ‘Regatta Remotely’ committee has met and agreed a programme of ‘events’ that you can enjoy safely at home, anywhere in the world, with your family and friends, whilst continuing to follow the Covid guidelines.

Whilst we won’t enjoy events together this year, like seen below on Regatta Day in 2018, we hope we can still bring our Beer magic to you.

Keep watching and sharing this page as more details will follow in the following days as we count down to Beers 2020 ‘Regatta Remotely’!

Beer Regatta

Welcome back!So welcome back to our visitors and to more of our brilliant local businesses!

Obviously it will be different and it’ll take some getting used to, but what’s the latest news?

Barrel of Beer 🍺

The Barrel are operating on a first come first served basis- no bookings. Anyone coming in must be seated (and stay) at a table as the government guidelines recommend.

Food will be served 12-3 on Wednesdays to Sundays .... Danny is fishing on Monday and Tuesday! 😂

Sadly the Dolphin Hotel has had problems with its boiler and will open on Tuesday now.

The Beer Head Bistro 🍽

There’s great excitement, but the initial plan is to offer takeaways or outdoor dining with tables available on a first come first served basis.

They will be serving a limited menu, with daily specials subject to change. Breakfast will be from 8.15 -12pm and from 12-7 they will be serving one main menu plus pizzas - these need to be preordered by phone (call 07387682232) and you will be given a pick up time slot.

Beer Quarry Caves🔦

This attraction offers guided tours of the 2,000-year-old man-made complex of underground caverns.

Numbers on the tours will be in line with government advice so visitors are being asked to pre-book by calling 01297 680282 and pay by card. If there is no answer, do leave you name and number and you will be called back.

Ducky's Beach Cafe 🏖

Delighted to say that Ducky’s are back on the beach as of today .... ready, steady, go!

Tables and brollies will be back on the beach for all the cafes too!

North & Co ✂️

Bookings for hair appointments are now both online or available if you call. Things will look a little different when you come to visit the team as Sonny T is demonstrating. You will be asked to wear a complimentary mask, but feel free to wear your own if you’ll be more comfortable.

There will be no refreshments or magazines provided but feel free to bring your own.

Osborne's Coffee and Wine Bar 🍹

Beach Date 😎 Osborne’s are offering food and drink inside with reduced seating but also will have hot and cold, soft and alcoholic drinks to take away so you can still enjoy a drink in style on the beach when the weather is fine 💛

Beer Regatta

It is with much regret that the Regatta Committee have had to take the decision to cancel Beer Regatta, as we usually know it, for 2020. We know that Regatta Week is much loved, and we realise that for many of you this will be disappointing news, but our priority, as always, is to keep our village, our volunteers, and our visitors safe.

However, in these strange and difficult times, we would like you to get involved in taking Beer Regatta 2020 global! We already know that the village appeal is far reaching, so this year we’d like you to join in as we bring Regatta to you – whether you live in New Cut, Newcastle, New York or New Zealand!

We are planning to have the Quiz and the Regatta Talk online, but we are also hoping that you will be part of our virtual Regatta by taking on the role of Official Regatta Photographer from the comfort of your own home. We’d like to see pictures of some of your favourite events, for example, ‘Family Robbie’s Races’, children in their Fancy Dress, cream teas, painted pebbles, face painting……. We will look to publish a ‘programme of events’ so each day we have a theme for the photographs we hope you will share with us on Facebook and Instagram. Are there any particular events you would like to see which might work from home?

We will of course provide further details nearer the time, and we will give you plenty of notice so you can plan your week, create your costumes, organise your own events and so on. It will be ‘Just for Fun’ this year – so no prizes or cups – but ‘Regatta Remotely’ is a chance for everyone to join in, wherever you live!

Let’s make Beer Regatta 2020 memorable!

Beer Regatta

Welcome Karen and Nigel to our beautiful village!

#shoplocalHurray!! Meet Karen and Nigel who are taking over Beer Village Stores - also known locally as the “top shop”!

Fans of the shop will be delighted to hear there are no great plans to change things, indeed Karen and Nigel were delighted by the amazing bread and the quality of the meat from Colyford. But a new chiller to help keep fruit and vegetables in top top condition is on the list, as is the willingness to hear new ideas from you.

This lovely couple met later in life and have had the dream of finding a village shop to own, run and nurture. They spent many a Friday evening over 2 years at their laptop with a glass of wine.

Having come from Marlow, they still cannot believe they will be so close to the beach and buying fish fresh from the sea. We welcome them and will be in soon to say hello!

Update from Karen and Nigel at the ‘top shop’....

UPDATE FROM KAREN AND NIGEL ....
